RUDRANATH

TUNGNATH

Tungnath is the highest Shiva temples in the world and highest of the Panch Kedar temples located in the Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand. it is at the top of the ridge dividing Mandakini River and Alaknanda River. The temple lies about 2km below the Chandrashila Peak (3,690 m (12,106 ft)). The road to Chopta is just below this ridge and hence provides the shortest bridle approach path for trekking to the temple from Chopta, over a short distance of about 5 km.

UKHIMATH

Ukhimath : Ukhimath is a small pilgrimage town in Rudraprayag district, Uttarakhand. During the winter, the Utsava Idols from the Kedarnath Temple, and Madhyamaheshwar Temple are brought to Ukhimath (Omkareshwar Temple) and worshipped here for six months. Ukhimath-chopta can be used as center destination for Madhyamaheshwar Temple, Tungnath Temple and Deoria Tal and many other picturesque places.

OMKARESHWAR TEMPLE

Omkareshwar Temple: Ukhimath has many other ancient temples dedicated to several Gods and Goddesses such as Usha, Shiva, Aniruddha, Parvati and Mandhata. According to Hindu Mythology, the wedding of Usha (Daughter of Banasura) and Aniruddha (Grandson of Lord Krishna) was solemnized here. By name of Usha this place was named as Ushamath known as Ukhimath. Utsava Idols of Kedarnath and Madhyamaheshwar are brought from Kedarnath and Madhyamaheshwar to the Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath.
